Guidance for discussing mental health and digital technology with young people
Research insight
In our recent survey conducted with mental health professionals, exploring the role and impact of influencers and content creators emerged as one of the top five topics for further training.
During our collaboration with the Digital Dialogues Young Person’s Group (DDYPG), 10 of the members identified 27 different mental health content creators they regularly engaged with. These creators encompassed a diverse range of backgrounds, including healthcare professionals, fitness experts, and peers. Their discussions covered various themes such as lived experience with mental health conditions, self-care practices, body image, neurodiversity, and therapy.
Collaboratively, we worked with the DDYPG to develop a poster and accompanying information document, aiming to explore the qualities they deemed essential for a mental health content creator to be considered trustworthy.
